Guidelines for Cultural Awareness
- Bajans appreciate greetings - a simple 'good morning' or 'good afternoon' before starting a conversation is considered respectful and will be warmly received.
- Dress modestly when away from the beach - while beachwear is fine at the shore, it's considered inappropriate to wear swimwear or very revealing clothing when visiting towns, restaurants, or religious sites.
- Barbados drives on the left side of the road, a legacy of British influence, so pedestrians should be extra cautious when crossing streets, especially if coming from right-side driving countries.
- Respect the national symbols - it's considered disrespectful to wear clothing made from the Barbadian flag or to use it in commercial designs without permission.
- Tipping is customary but not mandatory - 10-15% is appreciated for good service at restaurants and for taxi drivers, though many resorts include a service charge, so check your bill first.

Spent an unforgettable evening at Oistins Fish Fry - the mahi-mahi was perfectly grilled and the atmosphere electric! Only giving 4 stars as it gets extremely crowded and seating can be difficult to find after 7pm. Tip: arrive early or be prepared to share tables with friendly locals and other tourists.

The catamaran cruise with Tiami was the highlight of our trip! Swimming with sea turtles in their natural habitat was magical. The crew was professional yet fun, and they knew exactly where to find the turtles. The onboard lunch was delicious and they accommodated my vegetarian diet without prior notice.

Crane Beach is stunning but be warned about the strong currents - definitely not suitable for children or weak swimmers. The waves were much more powerful than we expected from the photos. The pink sand and dramatic cliffs make for amazing photos, but we couldn't fully enjoy swimming due to the rough Atlantic waters.

Mount Gay Rum Distillery tour was exceptional! As a spirits enthusiast, I appreciated the detailed explanation of the rum-making process and the historical context. The tasting session was generous, and our guide Richard had excellent knowledge about the subtle differences between aged varieties. Don't miss the cocktail-making session at the end!
